What is predestination all about according to the Bible?

Predestination is about the position of the believer. God predestinated us, keeping that place open so that the moment a person is saved, he is right where God intended him to be from eternity past. It concerns adoption as children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the pleasure of His good will.

Les teaches that the word adoption comes out of the Greek and Roman practice: the placing of that son as a full partner and heir with the Father. That is what adoption means. So God has predestinated us and kept that place open for every believer, so that the moment he is saved, there he is, right where God intended him to be from eternity past. Les explains that this is what predestination is all about—the position. It is the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself according to the pleasure of His good will. He also points back to Acts chapter 2, verses 22 and 23, where Peter is preaching to the nation of Israel still under the law, emphasizing these verses as fundamental to understanding these things.
