How long did the promises God made to Abraham take to be fulfilled?

God's promises to Abraham required five hundred years to reach fulfillment. They eventually came to pass, and the nation of Israel appeared. This fulfilled God's promise to make a separate race of people through Abraham and his wife, just as He said.

Les teaches that after the flood and the institution of capital punishment, God called Abraham and did something totally different without ever changing Himself. God told Abraham He would make of him a little separate race of people, letting the vast majority go their own way, but working through this little nation that would come through Abraham and his wife. All the promises God made to Abraham took five hundred years to come to fruition, and then they came. The nation of Israel made its appearance. After that, God did something again totally different: He put them under the law. This was different from anything in the previous fifteen hundred years. God set down the Ten Commandments, the priesthood, the temple, and all its ritual, explicitly instructing Israel in everything they were to do, both in their spiritual life and everyday life. Everything was prescribed—what they could and could not do, what they could and could not eat.
