What was the role of the Greek or Roman tutor in relation to the child?
The Greek or Roman tutor's role was to thoroughly prepare the child, tutoring him until he was ready as an adult son to step into his position as co-equal with the Father and work alongside Him, no longer in bondage or fear.
Les explains that the Greek or Roman tutor had the child completely ready as an adult son to step in and be co-equal with the Father. The child did not have to come in like a little puppy dog, almost afraid of Old Dad. Instead, he was a prepared young man, ready to come right in and work alongside the Father because he had been well tutored. Les applies this to believers: by virtue of the work of the Cross, God can place us as full, completely tutored sons of God, able to come right in alongside Him. That is our position, already joint heirs with Christ, even while on earth under the curse.
