What happens when the 'faith way' comes according to Galatians 3:25?
According to Galatians 3:25, when the faith way comes—being saved by faith plus nothing in what God has said—we are no longer under a schoolmaster. In God's progressive revelation, reaching that place in His economy means the tutor's role is finished, and the believer is no longer subject to it.
Les explains that verse 25 says, "But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster." He asks the listener to mentally add "way" after faith, so it reads "after the faith way is come." That means being saved by faith plus nothing in what God has said. Once we come to that place in God's economy in this progressive revelation, then we are no longer under a schoolmaster. Les also notes that the schoolmaster Paul refers to is not in the Jewish economy but in the Greek and Roman world. Greeks and Romans would hire a slave, a servant, who was instructed and under the father's demands to raise, tutor, and teach the child until some designated point—whether 16, 18, or what today would be about 21. At that point the tutor could say, "Master, this young man is now ready to come in and work right with you in your business. He's got everything that he needs to know. He's been well tutored, and he's well prepared."
But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
