Les Feldick Bible Study

Why can't works-religion people see that the Law cannot justify them?

They cannot see it because they close their eyes to Scripture and insist their church or religion will do it. But the Law only stops every mouth and pronounces all the world guilty; by the deeds of the Law no flesh is justified. Any system requiring works brings condemnation, not justification.

Les explains that the Law speaks to those under the Law—Jews, Israel—but its ramifications went to the whole human race. Its effect was to stop every mouth and declare all the world guilty; it could only pronounce guilt upon every human being. Therefore, by the deeds of the Law no flesh shall be justified. Works-religion people close their eyes to this and say, 'No, my church, my religion will do it.' But the Bible says no it won't. If a church holds you to something you have to do, there is no justification in that, only condemnation.

Romans 3:20

Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

More Questions

Why can't a person be justified by the deeds of the law?

Doing the law's deeds cannot justify anyone in God's sight because the law gives knowledge of sin, not knowledge of salvation or a way to heaven.

Why can no one be saved by the law?

No one can be saved or justified by keeping the law, because Paul states that by the deeds of the law no flesh is justified and the law could not bring anyone into salvation.
