Why does faith come by hearing?

Faith comes by hearing because God must first speak or declare something before a person can believe it. Abraham believed God because God had said something to him, and his faith was counted as righteousness. Hearing God's Word precedes belief.

Les teaches that faith comes by hearing because God has to say something before mankind can believe it. Abraham believed God, not merely in God, and that belief was imputed to him for righteousness. This illustrates that faith is a response to what God has spoken. Les also emphasizes that what matters is what God says, as recorded in Scripture, not what any human teacher says.
