Who was the headman of the Jerusalem church and who sent men to Antioch?

James was the headman of the Jerusalem church, and he sent emissaries from the Jerusalem congregation to Antioch. Those men came from James, and their arrival influenced Peter to withdraw from eating with Gentile believers, fearing them rather than God.

Les explains that before certain men came from James, Peter ate with Paul and the Gentile believers. James is now the headman of Jerusalem, and emissaries came to Antioch from James’s congregation in Jerusalem. When these Jewish people came up from Jerusalem, Peter became scared and separated himself from the Gentiles. Les points out that Paul confronted Peter as two-faced, because Peter withdrew not fearing God but the men from Jerusalem. Paul wanted to maintain the testimony of the Gospel of Grace and prove that Gentiles are free from the dietary laws. Les says he has always given Peter credit.

Galatians 2:12

For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.
