Why were thousands of Jews from every nation staying in Jerusalem in Acts 4?

These Jews from every nation under heaven were waiting for the King. They believed He would be coming at any moment, so they stayed in Jerusalem in expectation of His arrival. Their remaining there reflected eager anticipation that the King would soon appear.

Les teaches that these thousands of Jews had come from every nation under heaven, and they were now staying in Jerusalem, waiting for the King. They thought surely He would be coming at any moment. In that setting, believers who owned lands or houses sold them and laid the money at the apostles' feet, and distribution was made unto every man. Even Barnabas, a Levite from Cyprus, sold his land and brought the money to the apostles. The apostles were in control and were the leadership.

Acts 4:35

And laid them down at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.
