Did Jews throughout the Roman Empire send money to the Temple in Jerusalem, and was it safe?

Yes. Jews from one end of the Roman Empire to the other sent vast amounts of money to the Temple as offerings. Those gifts were never lost—not an ounce—because Rome recognized and protected the Temple offerings, reflecting Roman respect for Judaism as an ancient religion.

Les explains that the Judaistic religious people had clout with Rome, and Rome had a lot of respect for Judaism because it was considered one of the ancient religions. He notes that Jews from one end of the Roman Empire to the other would send vast amounts of money to the Temple as their offerings, and never was a dollar lost—never did they lose an ounce of those gifts—because Rome recognized and protected it. He also points out that the Jews had enough clout to demand extradition of Jews they wanted to deal with in their own religion and bring them back to Jerusalem. That is why Saul had authority to go to Damascus, outside Israel, and arrest Jews and drag them back to Jerusalem.
