Does the word 'church' in the New Testament always mean the Body of Christ?

No. The word translated "church" in the New Testament is the Greek word ekklesia, which can simply mean an assembly. It does not always refer to the Body of Christ. Many get confused by assuming it always means the Body of Christ, but the context shows otherwise.

Les explains that the Greek word ekklesia, translated "church" in the New Testament, does not always mean the Body of Christ. He deliberately uses the word "assembly" in verse 13 because people mistakenly think "church" always refers to the Body of Christ, and it does not. He also notes that ekklesia can be spelled with a K or C, and that makes no difference to its meaning.
