Why is the word 'cross' not mentioned in the little Jewish epistles?
The little Jewish epistles—James, 1 and 2 Peter, 1 and 2 John, Jude, and Revelation—do not mention the word “cross” because for them it was not the pinnacle of information as it was for Paul. Paul preached Christ crucified and centered on the work of the cross.
Les explains that the little Jewish epistles at the end of the New Testament are James, 1 and 2 Peter, 1 and 2 John, Jude, and Revelation. In those epistles, the word “cross” is not even mentioned, because for them it was not the pinnacle of information like it was with Paul. Paul, by contrast, says, “we preach Christ crucified,” and all he knows is the work of the cross. Les also notes that the Gospels were Christ before the work of the cross, before the atoning blood was shed, and under the Law. Peter carried that early ministry into Acts, but Paul focuses on the crucified, buried, risen, and ascended Lord.
