Where was Galatia located according to Les's map?
According to the map, Galatia was located in what is today Turkey, running down through the middle of the country. It lay under the underbelly of Turkey, past the corner of the Mediterranean Sea, with Jerusalem, the Jordan Valley, the Sea of Galilee, and the Dead Sea to the south.
Les explains that the map he uses is a simple freehand drawing, not a fancy or perfectly accurate chart, but one meant to be recognized and used for teaching. On it, he marks the Mediterranean Sea coast and places Jerusalem, the Jordan Valley, the Sea of Galilee, and the Dead Sea in the lower area. He then says that as you turn the corner of the Mediterranean Sea and go under the underbelly of what is today Turkey, Galatia is located down through the middle of it—the city to whom the letter of the Galatians is written. Further west on the western end of Turkey, he places the ancient city of Ephesus, to whom Ephesians was written, along with the churches in that area.
