Why does Les use simple caricature maps instead of professional maps?

Les explains that he puts a caricature of a map on the board. He compares it to a cartoon drawing of someone: it may be nowhere near accurate, yet you still recognize who it is. He says that is how his maps are. He acknowledges people may wonder why he does not use a professional map, noting no one has ever asked him but he is sure they think it. He sticks to his mundane, simplistic way because his whole thrust of teaching is to get his students and television audience to teach people the same way he does.
