What did Paul lose because he was sold out to Christ?
Because he was sold out to Christ, Paul left all his material wealth behind to take the Gospel, likely lost his wife when she turned against him, and possibly even a son, turning his back on everything to reach Gentiles.
Les teaches that Paul was probably totally sold out to God. He reminds us that Paul left all of his material wealth behind him in order to take the Gospel. Les also says he is convinced Paul had a wife and family, because a member of the Sanhedrin had to have family and know how to deal with family problems. As a result of being sold out to Christ, Paul probably lost his wife; she probably turned against him, since he had been a high man in the Judaistic religion, and there is a slight hint that he may even have lost a son. Whatever the case, he turned his back on everything in order to take the Gospel to the pagan, ungodly, immoral Gentiles. Later, the more he loved the Corinthians, the less he was loved in return.
