Les Feldick Bible Study

Could we still say our suffering is worth it even if we suffered as much as Paul did?

Yes. Even if a believer suffered to the same extent as the Apostle Paul, the suffering would still be worth it, because the glory to be revealed is not worthy to be compared with it. That glory is eternal, lasting ages upon ages, and it will more than compensate for any present suffering.

Les explains that even though believers may shun the world's pleasures and not enjoy what the world thinks is enjoyable, it is still worth it. He points to the reckoning that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is going to be revealed to us. Even if we would suffer to the extent that the Apostle Paul suffered, we could still say with him, Oh but it's worth it, because of the glory waiting for us. That compensation is not just seventy years for seventy or eighty or ninety down here; it is forever, ages upon ages, time without end. Les recalls a pastor's chart that ended in eternity, which excited him most. So if we must suffer yet someday, that hope must bear us up: no matter how much we suffer, it will be worth it all because of the glory to be revealed someday.
