Why did Paul lower himself so much for the Corinthians?
Paul lowered himself for the Corinthians because he loved them. He also chose not to be a burden to them, even though some could afford to give, and was supplied by the Macedonian brethren. His aim was to cut off occasion from those who desired occasion, so their glory would be found even as his.
Les explains that the Corinthian church had well-to-do people, yet Paul spared them who could have afforded to support him. Instead, he took support from those poor folks up in the mountains. When present with them and in want, he was chargeable to no man; the brethren from Macedonia supplied what was lacking. He kept himself from being burdensome and said he would continue. Paul condescended so much to these carnal, fleshly Corinthians because he loved them. He did it to cut off occasion from them that desire occasion, that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we. This was steeped in the truth of the revelations from the Ascended Lord.
Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.
