Who was Saul sent to bear Christ's name before?

The Lord said Saul was a chosen vessel to bear His name before the Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. This mission began with the Gentiles, a group once considered a dirty word by Jews, though Saul never lost his desire to see Jews saved.

Les explains that Ananias objected to the Lord, saying everyone knew what kind of man Saul was, but the Lord told him to go because Saul was a chosen vessel to bear His name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel. Les notes that up to this time Gentiles were almost a dirty word in the language of a Jew, yet Saul would go first and foremost to the Gentiles. Paul never lost his desire to see Jews saved. The Lord also said He would show Saul how great things he must suffer for His name's sake, fitting the principle that what goes around comes around, since Saul had caused utmost suffering. The account appears in Acts 9, 22, and 26, where Saul admitted the havoc he had wreaked among Jewish followers of Jesus of Nazareth.

Acts 9:15
