Where did the early apostolic churches meet, and did they have full-time pastors?

The small churches founded during the apostolic days likely met in homes, and most probably did not have full-time pastors. Even so, Paul gave instructions for collecting offerings, mainly for the poor saints at Jerusalem, because Gentile believers owed them material support for spiritual blessings.

Les explains that the little churches founded in the apostolic days were probably meeting in homes, and most likely did not have full-time pastors as such. Nevertheless, Paul still gives instructions for gathering their offerings. At that time the offering was primarily for the poor saints dwelling at Jerusalem, who had pooled resources since Pentecost until the common fund ran out and they became destitute. Because their destitution came through obedience to the Word, God cared for them through Gentile believers' offerings. Paul stressed that the Jews were worthy of material gifts because of the spiritual things they had given to the Gentiles. Paul deals with giving for almost three chapters—7, 8, and 9.
