Who did Jesus deal with in John 8?

In John 8, Jesus dealt with a woman caught in adultery, whom the scribes and Pharisees brought into the temple and set before Him. They cited Moses’ law requiring stoning and questioned Him to tempt Him. Jesus stooped down, wrote on the ground, and then said the one without sin should cast the first stone.

Les teaches that John chapter 8 presents the Lord Jesus Himself dealing with a woman who was a known adulterer. Early in the morning He came into the temple, all the people came to Him, and He sat down and taught them. They noted Moses’ law commanded such a one to be stoned and asked what He said, tempting Him so they might accuse Him. Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground as though He heard them not. When they kept prodding Him, He lifted Himself and said, “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”
