Who was Titus and what did he find when he came to the church at Corinth?

Titus was a young new believer, a student and helper of the apostle Paul. Arriving at Corinth, he found a carnal congregation with many unspiritual members, yet also a changed congregation because Paul's first letter addressed their issues, enhancing Paul's ministry, the congregation, and Titus himself.

Les explains that Titus was a young man, a new believer, and a student of the apostle Paul. When Titus came into the situation at Corinth, he realized their carnality and how unspiritual many of the members were. Yet because of the letter of First Corinthians and the change in the whole congregation—Paul took the bull by the horns, addressed the issues, and told the people to deal with it—it enhanced not only Paul's ministry but also the congregation and this young man Titus. Les stresses that these Corinthian believers had been pagan, idolaters, immoral, yet were brought out by believing the gospel and became new creations in Christ Jesus, a thrill even in their carnality to Paul and to Titus.
