What false accusations were made against Paul's message?
Paul was falsely accused of bringing a false gospel and of inventing a message he alone dreamed up. He was also accused of embezzling an offering, though that concerned his conduct. He answered that he had wronged no one and corrupted no man.
Les explains that Paul was responding to accusations coming out of the Corinthian congregation. Paul was accused of everything. If he collected an offering, he was accused of embezzling it. He was accused of bringing a false gospel. He was accused of coming up with something he alone dreamed up, and the list could go on. Paul responds in 2 Corinthians 7:2, 'receive us, we have wronged no one,' and says, 'we have corrupted no man.'
