Why could Gentiles come to Jesus only after His death, burial, and resurrection?

Gentiles could come to Jesus only after His death, burial, and resurrection because His death was like a kernel of wheat that must fall into the ground and die to bring forth much fruit. Until He died and rose, He remained alone; afterward, Gentiles could become the object of faith in Him.

Les teaches that when Gentiles came seeking Jesus, He did not accept them at that point. He explained that the hour had come for the Son of Man to be glorified, using the kernel of wheat: unless it falls into the ground and dies, it abideth alone; but if it dies, it brings forth much fruit. That pictured His own death and burial. Only after He died and was resurrected could Gentiles come into the picture and have Him as the object of their faith; not until then.

John 12:23

And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
