Were the Jews in the early chapters of Acts still under the Law?

Yes. The early chapters of Acts present the Jews as still under the Law. They had recognized Christ as Messiah and believed, but no one had told them they were released from the Law. Temple worship, prayer hours, and legal language continued, showing God was still dealing with Israel.

Les explains that Jesus' entire three-year earthly ministry was to the Jew and under the Law. He never told anyone to stop temple worship or to stop giving sacrifices. That same condition carries past His death, burial, and resurrection into the early chapters of Acts. Les points out that all the language there is still the Jews under the Law, and no one had told them they were not under it. Everything remained legal. For example, in Acts 5, Peter and John go up to the temple at the hour of prayer, which reflects Judaism and not a Christian requirement. Though they had recognized Christ as their Messiah and were believers, they were not released from the Law. Those early chapters show God still dealing with the nation of Israel, and the language is plain.
