What can the law do for a person—can it save anyone?
The law cannot save anyone; its only function is to condemn. The demanding law under the mercy seat has no mercy, and the law can do nothing for a person. All the law can do is condemn, not save. It offers no mercy or salvation whatsoever.
Les teaches that the law has no mercy and cannot save anybody. In Leviticus chapter 16, the mercy seat is above the ark, and under the mercy seat is the demanding law. The only thing the law can do is condemn; it cannot save anyone. Aaron could come into the holy place only with the prescribed offerings and holy garments, but the law itself provided no salvation. Les emphasizes that the law can do nothing but condemn.
