Was the Old Testament tabernacle worship a burden to Israel?

Yes. Old Testament tabernacle worship was a burden and a yoke for Israel. Everything in the tabernacle program had to be done exactly right, and its human priests died and were replaced, repeating the ritual year after year. It prefigured Christ, whose once-for-all sacrifice obtained eternal redemption.

Les explains that all the aspects of tabernacle worship were for the children of Israel a burden and a yoke, because everything had to be done just exactly right. He points out that the priests were human, they died, and others had to come and take their place, and the ritual was exercised year after year after year. In contrast, the finished work of Christ is "once," and He obtained eternal redemption for us. Les wants people today to understand how free we are from all that because Christ has done it all on our behalf. He connects this to Romans 3, where Christ is our propitiation if we believe, declaring His righteousness, for He has done it all.
