What did the priest do with the blood of the goat that was killed?

The priest took the blood of the goat that was killed, went through the same process as with the bullock, came behind the veil, and sprinkled it upon the golden mercy seat of the cherub. He dipped his finger in the basin and touched the blood upon the gold, not sprinkling gobs of blood.

Les explains that after the lot fell, the priest took the goat designated to be put to death. He then took the blood of that goat and went through the same process he had with the bullock. He again came behind the veil and sprinkled the blood upon the beautiful, golden mercy seat of the cherub. Les notes that people sometimes think the mercy seat must have been filthy with dried blood, but the priest did not sprinkle gobs of blood around. Instead, he took his finger, dipped it in the basin, and just touched it, presenting the blood upon the gold.
