What offerings did Aaron bring into the holy place on the Day of Atonement?
Aaron came into the holy place with a young bullock, described as a young male bull or steer, for a sin offering, and with a ram for a burnt offering. These are the offerings Scripture specifies for Aaron’s entry behind the veil.
Les teaches from Leviticus 16. The Lord spoke unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the Lord and died, because they took strange fire. Aaron was not to come at all times into the holy place behind the veil, which is upon the ark of the mercy seat, that he die not, for the Lord would appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat. Under the mercy seat was the law, and the law has no mercy; it can only condemn. In verse 3, Aaron was to come into the holy place with a young bullock, a young male bull or a steer, for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering. He was also to put on the holy linen coat, linen breeches, linen girdle, and linen miter, all holy garments.
Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.
