What does the golden candlestick in the tabernacle represent and where was it located?
The golden candlestick represents Christ, who claims to be the light of the world in John’s Gospel; it is indeed a depiction of Him. It was located on the south side of the tabernacle, next to the wall and fairly close to the curtain.
Les teaches that the tabernacle had only three pieces of furniture. On the north side was the table of showbread, but on the south side, next to the wall and fairly close to the curtain, was the golden candlestick. He connects it to John’s Gospel, where Christ claims to be the light of the world, and says He is indeed the golden candlestick. The showbread, by contrast, pictured Christ as the bread of life.
