Why will Israel look for the Ark of the Covenant in the future?
Israel will frantically search for the Ark of the Covenant because they are going to rebuild their temple, and that rebuilding is not far into the future. Their search is tied to the temple's restoration, while Revelation 11:19 shows the Ark of the Covenant in heaven.
Les explains that the Ark of the Covenant has been gone since the Babylonian captivity and Nebuchadnezzar's invasion, with nothing indicating the Babylonians took it. Turning to Revelation 11, during the Tribulation, he reads verse 19: the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the Ark of His Testament—or Covenant—was seen there, accompanied by lightnings, voices, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail. He notes some claim to know where the Ark is, but he is quite sure Israel will frantically look for it when they get their temple rebuilt. That rebuilding is not too far into the future; they are going to rebuild it. So the search is tied to the future temple.
