When did the Ark of the Covenant disappear, and did Babylon take it?

The Ark of the Covenant has been gone since the Babylonian captivity and Nebuchadnezzar's invasion, and no indication exists that the Babylonians took it with them. Revelation 11:19 later reveals the Ark of His Testament/Covenant in heaven's temple during the Tribulation.

Les explains that the Ark of the Covenant has been gone ever since the Babylonian captivity and the invasion of Nebuchadnezzar. He notes, however, that nothing in the text indicates the Babylonians took it with them. To address the question further, he turns to Revelation 11, where the events of the Tribulation are underway. After describing the nations' anger, God's wrath, judgment of the dead, reward for the prophets, saints, and those who fear His name, and the destruction of those who destroy the earth, Revelation 11:19 says the temple of God was opened in heaven and the Ark of His Testament—or Covenant—was seen there, accompanied by lightnings, voices, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail. Les also mentions that some claim to know where the Ark is, and he expects Israel will frantically look for it when they rebuild their temple, which he says is not too far in the future.
