What does Israel's history in the wilderness reveal about human nature?

Israel’s wilderness history reveals that human nature is unchanged: people are prone to unbelief, idolatry, and rejection of God. Despite miraculous deliverance from Egypt and God’s visible presence in cloud and fire, when Moses delayed, the people demanded gods to lead them. The same nature persists today, so Christ would likewise be rejected.

Les teaches that everything that happened to Israel in the wilderness is an exposure of human nature, and we are of the same nature—there is no difference. God had miraculously brought them out of Egypt and opened the Red Sea, and the cloud and pillar of fire remained over them daily as His presence, yet as soon as Moses was out of sight, they gathered to Aaron and said, “Up, make us gods.” Les compares this to modern people, even so-called enlightened intellectuals, falling for New Age sun worship, showing that human nature is no different today. If Christ came on the scene today as He did then, the human race would do the same thing: crucify, reject, and not believe Him.
