Is Israel's blinding national or individual, and can an individual Jew still be saved?
Israel’s blinding is national, affecting the whole nation as a covenant people, yet a nation consists of individuals. God still deals with Jews individually. Even though the nation remains blind, an individual Jew can still be saved and enter an individual relationship with God.
Les explains that when God makes a national covenant with Israel, it means exactly that—it involves the whole nation. But a nation is made up of individuals, so He will also deal with the Jew individually. When Isaiah says, and Paul repeats in Romans chapter 11, that the nation of Israel shall be blinded, that is a national thing; nationally they have been blinded and are still blind. Yet an individual Jew can still be saved and come into an individual relationship even though the nation has been blinded. Les connects this to Israel’s covenant condition—if they obey His voice and keep His covenant—and the result that they would be a peculiar treasure, a treasure of intrinsic value beyond comprehension, above all people, because God is sovereign and all the earth is His.
