Les Feldick Bible Study

Why does Les connect Revelation 12 with Matthew 24 when teaching about Jews fleeing Jerusalem?

Revelation 12 and Matthew 24 are connected because they use identical words and describe the same circumstance: Jews fleeing Jerusalem during the last half of the tribulation to a God-prepared place in the mountains, possibly Moab or Petra, southeast of Jerusalem.

Les explains that he jumps back to Revelation because the same identical words are used, and he ties the passages together because it will be a like circumstance for a group of Jews in the last days or last half of the tribulation. Revelation 12:6 pictures the woman, Israel, fleeing into the wilderness where she has a place prepared of God, and God feeds her there 1,260 days. He identifies the fleeing Jews as those leaving Jerusalem for a place God leads them out in the mountains—possibly Moab or the city of Petra, southeast of Jerusalem. He then takes listeners back to Matthew 24, verse 15.

Revelation 12:6

And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Matthew 24:15

When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
