Where did Israel camp when they came to Mount Sinai?
Israel camped in the wilderness of Sinai, at the base of Mount Sinai, before the mount. After departing from Rephidim, they came to the desert and pitched in the wilderness, and there Israel camped before the mount. Moses then went up into the mount unto God.
Les explains from Exodus 19 that in the third month, the month of June, the children of Israel were going forth out of Egypt. The same day they came to the wilderness of Sinai, and they were right down at the base of the old mountain itself, the mountain of God. They had departed from Rephidim and come to the desert, and they pitched in the wilderness. There Israel camped before the mount. As Israel camped around the base of Mount Sinai, Moses went up into the mount unto God, and the Lord called unto him out of the mountain.
For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount.
