What did the Israelites say to Moses and Aaron when they grumbled in the wilderness of Sin?

The Israelites said to Moses and Aaron, “Would to God we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full.” They grumbled in the wilderness, recalling Egypt’s food and wishing they had died there.

Les explains that the setting is Exodus 16, after Israel left Elim/Elam and came to the wilderness (Zin in this transcript) between Elim and Sinai on the fifteenth day of the second month. He notes they left Egypt in April, so this is May, and the desert was getting hot. With millions of people and livestock, water was a tremendous need. In verse 3 the children of Israel spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying they wished they had died by the Lord's hand in Egypt, where they sat by flesh pots and ate bread to the full. Les emphasizes how short memory can be, because they did not have it that good in Egypt.

Exodus 16:2

And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:

Exodus 16:3

And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.
