What is the main theme of the book of Exodus?

Exodus is the book of redemption. Israel, God's covenant people, became separated from Him through sin and ended up in Egyptian bondage, without an altar, sacrifice, or worship. God had to buy them back and redeem them, revealing His miracle-working power rather than ordinary events.

Les explains that Exodus is the book of redemption. Israel was God's covenant people, but through the sin of the brothers selling Joseph into Egypt, they were spiritually separated from God, lost, and ended up in Egyptian bondage without an altar, sacrifice, or worship. They were totally alienated, so God had to buy them back and redeem them. Les also notes that the world tries to rationalize such miracles as ordinary natural events, but they are the miracle-working power of God.
