Is the biblical city of Troas the same as ancient Troy?

Yes, the context identifies the biblical city of Troas as the city of Troy, located in the northwest corner of what is now Turkey. It notes that Homer's legends place the Trojan horse there, giving historical background for the stop at Troas after leaving Ephesus.

Les explains that after being forced out of Ephesus because of tremendous hatred for the gospel from pagan followers of Diana, whose statue oversaw the city, he went north into the northwest corner of what is now Turkey to the ancient city of Troas. Les equates Troas with Troy, noting that according to Homer's legends, it was Troy where the Trojan horse was, which gives historical background. He also says a little congregation was evidently begun there. Les mentions the visit connects to chapter 1 and chapter 2:13, where he was supposed to meet Titus (or Timothy, but Les concludes it was Titus). This background, Les says, shows why this man was under constant satanic attack.
