Les Feldick Bible Study

Are Jewish people sincere in reading the Law, and what happens to them when the Torah is read?

Yes, the context describes them as sincere in their activity, and Paul felt the same toward them. Yet when Moses or the Torah is read in synagogue worship, the veil remains upon their heart, keeping them from seeing that the Law has come to an end and something better has replaced it.

Les explains that the average Jew in blindness is still tying himself to the Law, and the veil is still on Moses’ head, so they cannot see that the Law has come to an end. In synagogue worship they primarily read from the Torah, from Moses, and they are sincere; Paul felt the same feeling toward them. But as they read the Law of Moses, or the Torah, the veil that keeps them from seeing that it is all passed off the scene is still there upon their heart. Paul wrote this letter around A.D. 60, yet Les notes it is the same truth for 1997.

2 Corinthians 3:15

But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
