What did Paul say he did not do in contrast to the false teachers?
Paul declared he did not come corrupting the Word of God, did not come like a raging wave foaming out shame, nor as a wandering star. Defending his apostleship, he said he did not come with false teaching or half-truth, unlike the false teachers whose message is an adulterated product.
Les teaches that the descriptions in verse 13 are what Paul says he was not. Paul said he did not come corrupting the Word of God; he did not come like a raging wave of the sea foaming out their own shame, or like wandering stars reserved to blackness of darkness forever. Back in II Corinthians verse 17, Paul defended his apostleship, showing he did not come with false teaching or half-truth. This contrasts with false teachers, whose teaching can look like a cloud of hope but disappears and is an adulterated product.
For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
