Why did the disciples believe nothing could touch their eternal part after Jesus' resurrection?

After Jesus' resurrection, the disciples understood that nothing could touch their eternal part because His resurrection meant theirs. If the Lord had been raised, they would be raised too. Even if men took their physical lives, their spirit life could not be ended.

Les explains that before the resurrection the eleven disciples had scattered like a flock of quail, practically running for their lives as they saw what was happening to their master. After Jesus' resurrection, their attitude totally changed. They now understood there was nothing that could touch that eternal part of them, because if the Lord had been resurrected, they would be too. Les then connects this to Paul, who had the same mindset: knowing the crucified Christ had been raised from the dead, Paul could say that men might take his life, but so what? They could not end his spirit life. The resurrection power of Christ would keep him even through the trials and tribulations of his physical life.
