Why did the Corinthian church write a letter to Paul, and where did he answer it?

The Corinthian church wrote to Paul with a long list of questions about how they were handling various problems. He answered that letter in his first letter to them, which is 1 Corinthians, dealing with issues such as gross immorality and other matters.

Les explains that the Corinthian believers had four groups causing dissension and grief, and they evidently sent the apostle a letter with a long list of questions about how they were handling these problems. Paul dealt with those questions as we came up through the first letter, 1 Corinthians, including the gross immorality in chapter 5 that the church was not addressing. Les notes the first letter did not fall on deaf ears, and the second letter was written months later, showing many things were corrected. The first part of 2 Corinthians, up to 6:10, deals with Paul's defense of his apostleship.
