What does Deuteronomy 29:29 show about God's prerogative to keep secrets?

Deuteronomy 29:29 distinguishes the secret things that belong to the LORD from what He reveals to His people. It shows God has the prerogative to keep matters secret and does not have to reveal them until He is ready, revealing truth at the right time.

Les explains that Deuteronomy 29:29 sets the secret things belonging to the LORD apart from the things He reveals. Revelation and secrecy go together. Although this was written to Israel, it still displays God's attribute: He has the prerogative to keep things secret and need not reveal them until He is good and ready. Les says this is basic to understanding the Word—God does not reveal everything all the way up but reveals it at the right time. He illustrates this in Luke 18, where, near the end of His earthly ministry before Jerusalem, Jesus took the Twelve and said all things written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man would be accomplished; God kept things secret from them until He was ready to reveal it.

Deuteronomy 29:29

The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
