Why is the resurrection considered the bulwark of our faith?
The resurrection is the bulwark of faith because it confirms Christ not only died for us but arose victoriously over sin, death, Satan, and hell. His resurrection guarantees believers' blessed hope and the future redemption of the body, as pictured in His 40 days before ascension.
Les teaches that the whole concept of resurrection is the very bulwark of our faith, because not only did Christ die for us, but He arose victoriously over sin, death, Satan, and hell, and He is able to impart unto us the blessed hope of resurrection. This connects with Ephesians 1, where the believer’s soul and spirit have already been redeemed, yet that redemption is a down payment that God will complete by also redeeming and giving us a new body. The best way to glimpse that new body is to look at Christ in His resurrection experience, those 40 days between His coming out of the tomb and His ascension in Acts chapter 1. In Luke 24:36, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of the disciples and said, “Peace be unto you.”
