Why is the resurrection the very bulwark of our faith?

The resurrection is the bulwark of faith because Christ not only died for us, but arose victoriously over sin, death, Satan, and hell. His resurrection guarantees the believer's blessed hope and new body, since the redemption of soul and spirit is itself a down payment that God will complete, redeeming and giving us a new body.

Les explains that this whole concept of resurrection is the very bulwark of our faith. It is not only that Christ died for us, but that He arose victoriously over sin, death, Satan, and hell, and all the rest of it, so He is able to impart unto us the blessed hope of resurrection. Les also notes that as a believer, our soul and spirit have already been redeemed, yet that in itself is a down payment that God will complete the transaction, and also then redeem and give us a new body. He says the best way to get a glimpse of that new body is to look at Christ in His resurrection experience, those forty days between His coming out of the tomb and His ascension in Acts chapter 1. In Luke 24:36, the ten are meeting, and Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them and said, 'Peace be unto you.'
