How can believers enjoy eternal existence?

Believers enjoy eternal existence only by experiencing a biblical resurrection, not merely being called back from physical death to die again. This resurrection life began with Christ, who died and rose never to die again, and it is the same eternal life received the moment one believes the Gospel.

Les stresses that the whole chapter deals with resurrection, and that practically no other religion has resurrection as the very basis of its beliefs. This is unique to Christianity: at the core of everything the Bible teaches is the doctrine of resurrection. This life does not end at the grave; there is a life for eternity, and the only way believers can enjoy that eternal existence is to experience a biblical resurrection. Les also warns that resurrection does not mean someone died and was brought back to life, as with the widow's son and Lazarus; they were simply called back from the dead and later died again. Resurrection began with the Lord Jesus Himself, who was the first to be resurrected, meaning He died and arose from the dead, never again to die, for all eternity. That same eternal life is what believers experience the moment they believe the Gospel.
