Why must all these end-times events be consummated?
All these end-times events must be consummated so Christ can bring to the epitome of understanding, even for believers and the angelic hosts, of who He is. This includes ending the tribulation, establishing His Kingdom, fulfilling Israel's covenant promises, ruling all earth, and defeating death, the final enemy.
Les explains that after the consummation of the tribulation, the King comes and sets up His Kingdom. Israel will finally enjoy all those covenant promises, including a territory clear out to the Euphrates River—not desert sand, but like the Garden of Eden. All the earth will come under Christ's rule and reign. After He has shown His authority and power, He must defeat the final enemy, which is death. Les teaches that all these things have to be consummated in order for Christ to bring to the epitome of understanding—even of all believers and the angelic hosts—of who He is. He also notes that the devil was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and false prophet will be tormented day and night forever, and that succeeding verses describe the judgment of the lost and their doom. He reminds us that this was the whole downfall of the nation of Israel in His earthly ministry.
