Where is Satan during the thousand-year reign of Christ?

During the thousand-year reign of Christ, Satan is alive but bound in an abyss of some kind, held under spiritual chains. He is confined and cannot oppose Christ's absolute rule, and he is not put away forever until the thousand years have run their course.

Les explains that Satan is not dead or annihilated during the millennium; he is merely bound in an abyss of some kind and held there under spiritual chains of one sort or another. This binding lasts until the thousand years has run its course. During that time, Christ reigns as absolute King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and there is nothing of Satanic power to oppose Him. However, Satan remains alive and has not been put away forever. At the end of the thousand years, according to God's sovereign way, Satan will be released and will once again cause the nations to follow him and reject the sovereignty of the King and of God. This is why Paul was led by the Spirit to write that Christ must reign until He has put all enemies under His feet, and the final setting away of Satan cannot take place until the thousand years have finished. Les points to Revelation chapter 20, beginning in verse 7, as the Scripture that teaches this.
