What is chaff like in the Bible's threshing floor imagery?
Chaff is light, like a feather, so the wind can blow it away and it dissipates. In the imagery, the residue of the great Gentile empires becomes like chaff from the summer threshing floor, blown away and disappearing at the Second Coming.
Les teaches that when Christ returns, He crushes the residue of all the Gentile empires and the armies of the Antichrist at Armageddon. The image's iron, clay, brass, silver, and gold are broken to pieces together and become like the chaff of the summer threshing floor. Whether or not a person knows agriculture, chaff is light, like a feather; the wind can blow it away, and it just dissipates. The residue of these great Gentile empires will literally be blown away with the Second Coming of Christ, disappear like the chaff of the summer threshing floor, and the wind carries them away. Then the stone that smote the image, the returning Christ, becomes a great mountain and fills the whole earth, setting up His Kingdom. Les also notes that the 75 days will be used to cleanse the earth of all the residue.
Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
