Who is the coming of the Lord in 1 Thessalonians 4:15 for?

This coming is specifically for the body of Christ. It applies to believers who are alive and remain until that coming, along with those who have died in Christ. They shall not precede or go ahead of them who are asleep.

Les explains that 1 Thessalonians 4:15 identifies the coming of the Lord as being for the body of Christ. Paul did not want believers ignorant concerning those who are asleep, who have died in Christ. The qualifications for being in the rapture are being alive when it happens and believing with all your heart that Jesus died and rose again. If we believe that Jesus died and rose again, God will bring with Him those who sleep in Christ. Les points out that the God coming with the saints is Jesus, and Jesus is the God coming with the saints. The living who remain until the coming of the Lord shall not precede or go ahead of them who are asleep.

1 Thessalonians 4:15

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
