How often does Paul mention the Body of Christ in Romans and 1 Corinthians?
Paul mentions the Body of Christ only once in Romans and one or two times in 1 Corinthians. The early letters contain few references, while Ephesians has many more because Paul received further revelations, making his writings a progressive revelation.
Les explains that Paul's writings are a progressive revelation just like the Bible as a whole. When Paul first begins his letters, he does not make a big deal over the Body of Christ. In Romans there is just one mention, and in 1 Corinthians one or two mentions. But as you come into Ephesians, Paul has had further revelations while imprisoned in Caesarea for a year and a half. That is why you see more about the Body in Ephesians than in Romans and Corinthians. Ephesians 4:12 speaks of edifying the Body of Christ. Les also points out that not every church member is a member of the Body of Christ; many church members are lost and not in the Body.
